Does mineral oil or Brewer’s yeast help with cat shedding?

Our question this week was:

I seem to remember some sort of supplements or household items that can help a cat's coat, decrease shedding, such as mineral oil or Brewer's yeast? Can you answer this concern for me?

Nancy Michael

Hi – thanks for your email. You wrote asking what over-the-counter product can help with shedding. To be honest – nothing works well for shedding other than routine combing and brushing. That is what really does work best. Also – feeding a good quality premium food helps with the overall health and hair condition.

An article that might be helpful to you is Shedding in cats.

Best of luck!
