Our question this week was:

Dr. Debra – I have a 14-year-old cat that has had kidney failure for about 2 months. He is not eating well – doesn't like the canned food that my vet has. Is there a homemade recipe that I can try?

Hi – thanks for your email. Sorry to hear about your cats condition. Kidney failure is a very common disease in older cats. An article that you might appreciate is Chronic Renal (Kidney) Failure in Cats. This article has a lot of information about the treatment and progression of this disease.

Yes, we do have a recipe for cats with kidney failure. I'd recommend that you print the recipe and discuss this diet with your veterinarian.
