Our question this week was:

Can you do an ultrasound on a dog to see if he has been neutered. My dog has no scar but also notesticles. Just got him from a shelter with no information on the dog.

Tammy Gregoire

Hi – thanks for your email. Interesting situation. Sometimes it is hard to see the scar from a neutering as it is on midline and hair grows over the area quickly.

In answer to your question, yes, you can do an ultrasound to determine if a dog is cryptorchid (his testicles are retained in his abdomen) or his testicles have been removed .

Best of luck!
