A well-known commerical brand pellet should make up 60 percent to 80 percent of your bird's diet. Seeds are very high in fat and should be used for training or treats.

Parrots should never consume alcohol, chocolate or caffeine. Foods high in salt should also be avoided. Avocado and parsley have been known to kill birds. Parsley, if fed, should be given only in small amounts and with caution.
