Should I declaw my cat?
By: Dr. Jon Rappaport

Our question this week was:

Dear Doctor,

Should I declaw my cat?

Nancy R.

Boca Raton, Florida

Answer

Thanks for your question. The short answer is it depends. Declawing is quite controversial. I would only do it on young kittens as they bounce back really fast and cats that are to be indoors only and with no chance of being outdoor cats. There are several alternatives to declawing that are discussed in the article below.

Best of luck.
