Our question this week was:

My young cat coughed up a long thin worm. Do you think it was a heartworm?

Answer

Hi – thanks for your email. You asked if your cat could have coughed up a heartworm. The answer is no. It probably was a roundworm if I had to guess. Cats can also get lungworms.

An article that might be helpful to you is Internal Parasites of Cats.

Best of luck!
