I am certain I got ringworm from my cat but she shows no obvious signs of the disease. What are the symptoms of ringworm in cats? Is it always obvious?

Hi Lucy. Thanks for your question. Some cats can carry ringworm without having obvious lesions.

Typical lesions are circular areas of hair loss (alopecia) on the hair coat; however, any change in the hair coat and/or skin may be consistent with ringworm. The affected skin often appears scaly and inflamed. Some cats suffer from severe skin disease while others have minor lesions or even none at all.

I'd recommend washing your hands well after handling your cat. It is also possible to get ringworm from other sources besides cats.
