Cat's paw pad is red and swollen
By: Dr. Jon Rappaport

Our question this week was:

My cat's paw pad is red and swollen, but I can't see anything. He keeps licking it. What might be wrong?

Answer

Hi – thanks for your email. A red swollen paw on a cat is abnormal. I'd recommend having your cat evaluated. It is possible there could be a bite wound, an abscess, foreign body or other problem.

Best of luck!
