Did you hear that sound? The kids are gone-out of the house and there is that sound again-did you hear it? It is not a bad sound. Your husband is at work-there it is--that sound again-this time it's even louder. Now really, you must have heard it? What is that sound? It sounds kind-of sad. I know what it is-it is the sound of an empty nesters home.

This is something that we are now or something that we will be going through once the kids have left the roost. For some of us, it is time to be free-free to travel-- free to convert one of the kids bedroom into your own yoga room. For so many other empty nesters it is a time to move on and to find new love. The love of a cat or dog-thank you very much.

I would like to share with you the following story of how one empty nester fell in love. I hope you enjoy this touching story as much as I did.

"My children all left the house. I had 3 kids and I was a stay-at-home mom because my husband didn't want me to work. So, when the kids where all gone, I was a bit lost.

I got my first cat like this. My youngest, my daughter Debra, came home from college one weekend. While she was home, I continued doing my normal household chores including folding laundry. This sounds silly but she said that I was "petting" the socks as I was folding them. She thought that I needed something to care for and love-so much that soon she surprised me with my first cat.

I had dogs when I was younger but never a cat. The cat she got me was a tiny black and white domestic longhaired cat (a common mutt type cat) but cute as a button. My daughter also supplied me with kitten food, bowls, litter and a litter box. I named the kitten "Bibbles" and had him for 18 years. He was a wonderful handsome, sophisticated cat with all the wonderful attributes of cats (that he taught me). He was patient, clean, playful, and loving.

Since then, I've turned in to quite the cat person. I now have two other cats, Teddy and Maxx. Each cat has its own personality and fills a different part of your heart."

Ahhh!! It is never too late to share your heart with a tiny creature or two...or three... If you feel your heart tugging, then it is time for you to fill it up and share all that love with your own small bundle of fluff.

Cat lovers, it is a time to rejoice. I am quite sure you have a story tell, so please feel free to share it with us.

Until next time...
