Answer

Hi – thanks for your email. It is pretty easy to grow cat grass. You can buy kits with seeds and soil and all you need to do is water and follow the directions. You can also buy just the seeds at the pet store. I believe they are often wheat seeds.

Generally, you just plant the seeds in a pot and cover with some good dirt, water and set in a window away from your cats. I like to cover with saran or plastic warp until the seeds sprout and tough the wrap. Keep it away from your cats until it is 3 or 4 inches tall. If they have access to it when it is too tough – they eat it and essentially pull out the roots, as it is so soft and immature.

After it is 3 to 4 inches, allow them to graze for a day or two – then pick it up and allow it to grow back.

Sometimes it is good to grow 2 or 3 pots and rotate them.

Best of luck!
