Answer

Hi – thanks for your email. You wrote asking about how to care for a new queen with her kittens?

Well....the big key is keeping your mother cat (queen) and kittens inside were they are safe and comfortable. Make sure that the queen is eating a good quality food (preferably for pregnant or nursing cats). She needs all the calories she can get to help nurse her kittens.

The kittens should be monitored to ensure they are eating well. Weighing them once or twice a day is also a good idea to ensure they are maintaining their weight. A queening box is nice – with some heat.

I have an article that gives you information about care of newborn kittens that might be helpful. An article that might be helpful to you is Caring for Newborn Kittens.

Best of luck!
