Our question this week was:Can you tell me how melamine is used in the pet food manufacturing process?Christine MillerAnswerHi – thanks for your email. Excellent question. According to the PetFoodReport – a trade group that represents 98% of pet food on the shelves today, "melamine, the substance suspected of affecting animals, is not used in pet food manufacturing and pet food makers have never seen it before. The substance is completely foreign to the process and quite simply should not have been present in wheat gluten."It sounds like they have no idea. Regards, Dr. JonP.S. What do you think about this food recall? I created a poll because I'd really like to know what your opinion? Do you think the pet food contamination was an "accident" Take our poll! Click Here

I wanted to give you another update about the recent pet food recall. As you know, there was a dog and cat food recall of 60 million containers packaged under 95 brands of food.
