Hi – thanks for your email. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. The right time to get a new cat really depends on you. For some people, it helps to get another pet right away. Other people need to wait. Do what you feel is right. Don't feel rushed or pressured to make a decision right now.

I think some people have so much love to give back and miss their cats so much that it is helpful to get another cat. In that situation, I don't think you are minimizing the depth of your love for the cat you lost, just redirecting some of that emotion. You can't do anything to change that you lost your cat but you can save another cat. There are tons of homeless cats that are euthanized every day.
