My cat has a fever and I'm giving him infant pain reliever
By: Dr. Jon Rappaport

Our question this week was:

I have my kitten fixed yesterday he is 14 weeks! Well last night he was running a high fever. He screams when you touch him anywhere. He still has a high fever I am giving him infant pain reliever and fever reducer. I can't get the vets office to call me back. Do I need to be a worried mom or is this normal. This is my first male cat to be fixed.

Thanks,

Kassy Sweet (very worried mom) and Polar Sweet (fixed and unhappy kitten)

Answer

Hi – thanks for your email. Please DON"T give your cat any pain or fever medication without talking to your vet. Drugs such as Tylenol can be fatal to your cat! If you can't get in tough with your vet, call your local animal emergency clinic. Don't self medicate your cat.

Best of luck!
