Safe Holiday Tip

For many households, winter holidays mean putting up a Christmas tree. Keeping your cat safe becomes an issue. The natural smell of a Christmas tree attracts pets. Needles (even artificial ones) are indigestible. In addition, cats may want to try to climb trees, which can cause the cat, the tree or both to topple to the ground.

Stand water can be tempting to a thirsty pet so make sure the water is clean and preservative free. Keep the lower branches free of irresistible hanging ornaments or hot lights and don't use tinsel. And, make sure the electric cords are kept covered to prevent a curious cat from chewing on the cords.
