What type of food is preferred for cats? Mostly it is your preference. This is what they really need:

  • For kittens (up to 8-9 months of age): Feed your kitten a consistent canned, semi-moist, or dry cat food designed for kittens. All of the formulas are adequate as long as they are good quality foods and especially formulated for kittens.

  • For adult cats (> 9 months): Feed your cat a consistent canned, semi-moist, or dry cat food designed for an "adult" cat. All of the formulas are adequate as long as they are good quality foods and especially formulated for adult cats. Cats over the age of 8 may benefit from a "senior" formula.
