Just like humans, pets are sensitive to extended sun exposure. The symptoms of sun overexposure include peeling skin, scabs and pain. Extreme cases can even result in squamous cell carcinoma, a potentially fatal skin cancer. So protect your pet from the sun's harmful rays.

Be aware that cats with lighter-colored fur are at greater risk of overexposure. Help your pet avoid harmful rays by keeping him inside or in shaded areas during peak sun hours (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and apply sunblock to the tips of your pet's ears and the top of the nose to avoid burns.
