Dr. Jon - What is a MDI?
By: Dr. Jon Rappaport

Our question this week was:

Dr. Jon - I have a cat with asthma and my vet recommended a MDI. Can you explain to me what this is?

Regards,

Betsie B. - Little Rock AK

Answer

Betsie, thanks for email. A MDI stands for metered dose inhaler. It is the classic inhaler that you see people with asthma or other respiratory diseases use. They can also be used in cats. I have a good article about how to use a MDI - Go to Using a MDI in cats. I think this will answer your questions.

Best of luck with your cat.
