What is considered proper “eye care” for kittens?
By: Dr. Jon Rappaport

Our question this week was:

How should I care for my kittens eyes? Everyone talks about their teeth, grooming etc but I have not heard much about "eye care".

Answer

Hi – thanks for your email. Generally most kittens and cats don't need much in the way of eye care. Occasionally, if there is a small amount of discharge, you can clean around the eyes with a moistened cotton ball as needed. It is important to make sure there is not an infection or underlying problem causing the discharge. If they eyes are red, look irritated or you have any concerns, I'd recommend seeing your veterinarian to have the yes checked.

I have a really good article that I think will be just what you need – it is called Eye Care in Kittens.

Best of luck!
