Our question this week was:Dr. Jon -My cat is peeing blood not urine. What could be wrong? Also she does not cry when she pees.
Melanie Blood-RojasAnswerHi – thanks for your email. You wrote that your female cat has blood in her urine. This is called
Hematuria which stands for blood in the urine. It has several possible causes from an
infection,
bladder stones,
bleeding problems to
tumors. There is also a condition called
Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC) – this disease also has many other names that can cause blood in the urine of some cats. Regardless of the cause, it is abnormal.
I'd recommend that you take her to your veterinarian immediately for an examined to determine the underlying cause.
Got to he links above for more information on each condition.
Best of luck!
