Do dogs shake when they have a fever?
By: Dr. Jon Rappaport

Our question this week was:

If a dog has a fever would the dog shake as if it were really cold?

Sandy Bowers.

Answer

Hi – thanks for your email Sandy. Some dogs can shake from a fever but dogs can also shake if they don't feel well or from pain. The best way to tell if a dog has a fever is to take his temperature. A rectal temperature reading is most accurate.

Best of luck!
