For Anyone with Doubts about Pet Insurance

By: Veterinary Pet Insurance

I got a check in the amount of $2,195.71 today from Veterinary Pet Insurance. The claim I submitted was for $2,855.55.

Several years ago, we purchased coverage for Jazzie, a Yorkshire Terrier. I really like Veterinary Pet Insurance for the fact that I can choose to take my baby to any veterinary office and still be covered. Filing the claim is simple and the peace of mind was priceless. When Jewel, our second Yorkie joined our family, we purchased a plan for her immediately. Never did I imagine how much I would rely on VPI.

Shortly after her second birthday, Jewel started to have epileptic seizures. After several lab tests, MRI and spinal tap, we learned she was suffering from Necrotizing Encephalitis, a rare and terminal brain infection. We were told she only had days, maybe a month to live. Well, she proved all her doctors wrong and lived a full year. Her medical bills would have been a huge financial burden had we not had VPI coverage.

We received reimbursement for the MRI, several lab tests and even for her acupuncture!

Jewel was rushed to a local emergency veterinary clinic on May 16th. We expected a large bill but we would have paid ten times that amount if Jewel could have survived and still be with us today. And again VPI came through with a $2,196.71 check.

For anyone with any doubts GET IT! You never know what type of emergency you and your baby may face. In the year Jewel was sick, we paid close to $10,000 to her various doctors and VPI reimbursed us for about 60% of it. We were fortunate we had her & Jazzie covered. It gave us the financial means to keep her with us a little longer and not
have to put her to sleep because we couldn't afford her treatments. VPI made it possible for Jewel to spend an extra year with us.

Jazzie is now a very healthy 8 year old and we continue to use VPI for her annual checkups, vaccination, and dental care.

I know many people ask this question: "To Get or Not To Get Pet Insurance" - I hope Jewel's life story helps to make that decision. It worked for us!

All your Fur Babies be Safe, Warm & Loved.

In Loving Memory of Jewel -The York Family
