We have gotten a lot of email about what is a good homemade diet to feed dogs with vomiting, diarrhea or other gastrointestinal diseases.

Before feeding this diet, discuss it with your veterinarian and get their approval to ensure it is right for your pet.

Balanced low-residue homemade formula for adult dogs with gastrointestinal disease

Daily food formulation for an 18-kg dog (as fed)

*Also feed one human adult vitamin-mineral tablet daily.

Directions: Cook starch component. Hard boil one large egg. Mix with all other components except the vitamin-mineral supplement. Mix well and serve immediately or cover and refrigerate. Feed the vitamin-mineral supplement with the meal; give as a pill or pulverize and thoroughly mix with food before feeding.
