Our question this week was:

Dr. Debra – can you tell me how long do sperm live in a female dog after breeding?

Answer

Hi – thanks for your email. In a healthy stud dog, sperm survival can last up to 7 days in the female. Not every dog can produce sperm that can live that long.

A couple articles that might be helpful to you are The Basics of Dog Breeding, Pregnancy in Dogs and Canine Artificial Insemination.

Best of luck!
