"How do I get my dog to make less stools?" - this is a common question.

Dogs producing lots of stool is a pretty common complaint among pet owners (especially the owners of those responsible for cleaning or picking it up).

Many pet owners (especially owners of BIG dogs that produce BIG stools) wonder how they can minimize the quantity of their dog's stools. Whether you are on a walk and picking up the doo or cleaning up your yard – some dogs frequently have very large quantities of stool.

If you ask most vets – the answer is pretty simple.

The food can make a big difference. Highly digestible foods are absorbed by the system and they produce less by-products. High digestibility means small compact stools that are smaller and easier to clean up. It also means more nutrition for your dog.

Some pet food companies will give you a comparison chart. Many of the premium brands cost more but also you need to feed less. The food that is eaten is easily digested and results in fewer stools.

This is also a good option for obese dogs.

So, in summary – the best thing you can do is to feed a good quality diet that is highly digestible.
