Is My Breed Covered By Pet Insurance?

A dog's breed is an important factor in pet insurance. Is your breed covered or eligible for pet insurance? Do their coverage limits change for a particular breed? Does the premium change?

Is your breed covered by pet insurance? The answer is yes. The pet insurance companies interviewed cover every breed including mixed breeds and "designer dogs" (common mixes such as the cockapoo or labradoodle).

While writing this article we researched a number of pet insurance companies and their restrictions. At the time of writing, none of them excluded particular breeds from coverage. However, some companies do charge more for some breeds than others. For examples, a bulldog may be more expensive to insure than a labrador retriever due to the commonality of some medical conditions.

If you are considering purchasing insurance coverage for your dog, we recommend contacting the insurance provider to confirm your dog is covered, if there are coverage exclusions based on your dogs breed, and the costs.

I hope this gives you more information about whether your dog can be covered by pet insurance.
