Our
puppy of the week is from Baldwin Harbor, New York.
Patrice, Ocean's Owner writes:
My husband and I adopted Ocean from a shelter a couple of months after I had to send my 17 1/2 year old Border Collie mix to doggie heaven. We have another dog, an American Eskimo mix (her name is Angel and she is a true "angel") and wanted Angel to continue to have a friend.
My husband and I do not have "human" children so the dogs certainly do make up for it. I was not sure if I was ready as my late great Border Collie mix (Starr) was my life but we went anyway to check out the puppies. I stood in the puppy room of the shelter crying my eyes out and was about ready to leave when a wonderful woman who worked at the shelter came over to me and asked if I was okay.
I told her the story about the passing of my late great girl and also told her that I was not sure if I was doing the right thing by being here at this time. She then took the time to show me puppies (primarily Border Collie mixes) yet there was not one that grabbed my heart. I told her "thank you" and my husband and I were ready to leave when she brought Ocean to us. She is part of our family nowIf you would like to submit your puppy, our editors will choose one puppy each week.
