Travel Ideas: The Redwoods in Yosemite with Dogs.
Your dream vacation: A beautiful, natural backdrop with fantastic views of a fabulous landscape surrounds you. Your accommodations are comfortable, and intimate and provide an excellent environment that's also enriched by family or friends and of course ... your cat.
Nestled away in majestic Yosemite National Park is a magnificent vacation spot called The Redwoods In Yosemite, one of the parks' "best kept secrets," according to Jerry Holl, spokesperson for this unusual hideaway.
The Redwoods In Yosemite offers seven varieties of year-round vacation home rentals that range from compact and cozy cabins to well-appointed vacation homes with game rooms, etc., that will accommodate intimate to large groups. You can choose from one of over 130 privately-owned, one-, two- or three-bedroom mountain homes that all uniquely reflect their owners' tastes. Each home has a fully-equipped kitchen with a microwave, coffeemaker, toaster and housewares. Bed and bath linens, a heat system and a deck with barbecue are also included with all homes. Selected homes may include: a telephone, a TV/VCR, a satellite television system, game room, gas grill, dishwasher and hot tub. The intimacy created by each home's amenities makes this a perfect place for families, weddings, business retreats or reunions.
"Our cabins and homes are off the beaten path and don't get the traffic that the valley does," Holl says. "You can see all the attractions of the area in the daytime and come back to the Redwoods and relax in the serenity of your own home in a wooded area. It's quieter and very pleasant here."
Sights to be Seen
Yosemite National Park offers spectacular mountain and valley views-along with other park highlights that will keep even the expert explorer of your group enchanted for days.
For example, you can take in the incredible Yosemite Falls-the tallest waterfall in North America and breathtaking Giant Sequoias, the world's oldest and largest trees that have been around for nearly 3,000 years and can reach up to 100 feet around. You can also experience Tuolumne Meadows, the largest sub-alpine meadow in the Sierra Nevada that sits at an elevation of 8,757 feet. Badger Pass Ski Resort is perfect for snow bunnies and Historic Wawona is a great place to experience Native American Culture. These are just a few of the natural wonders and attractions that you'll be surrounded by on your visit.
"Purr"-fectly Pet Friendly
According to Holl, The Redwoods In Yosemite welcomes pets so campers don't have to feel uncomfortable leaving their loved ones behind at home. "Because our homes are privately-owned, each owner decides whether or not their home will allow pets," she explains. The only thing that is required is a one-time $15 pet deposit.
Out of over 130 homes, Holl says around 30 will welcome your four-legged, two-winged or two-handed, etc., pet. "We absolutely allow pets in homes that are designated pet units," she says. We've been know to see almost every kind of animal-dogs, cats, birds-we've even had a monkey visit us.
