One of my beagles is real finicky when it comes to taking medicine. One of them will just about take anything from your hand. I guess he thinks everything is a treat. One the other hand the other beagle will not go anywhere near a pill if she can smell it! Even if she decides to try it- once she tastes the medicine "out it goes on the floor" and she walks away.

This beagle recently had surgery and I couldn't go through tasting and smelling games with her every day. The first few days since she was on soft foods, we put the meds in her food. This worked for the first week, and then she would find the pills in the food before she ate and then would pick them out and place them on her mat, next to her
