When buying a dog bowl, make sure it is big enough to comfortably hold the amount of food appropriate for your dog's size.

For example, if your dog normally eats 3 cups per meal, choose a bowl size that holds at least 4 to 5 cups. This extra size allows to food to sit in the bowl rather than level or heaping which gives your dog room to comfortably eat and make less of a mess.
