By: Dr. Jon Rappaport

Our question this week was:

Dr. Jon - I have a boxer, age 4, and he is usually very playful and healthy. Now, he is vomiting, having diarrhea, not eating, and breathing heavily, and he's not his usual playful self.

Answer

Hi – thanks for your email Nicky. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. There are many reasons why a dog can have vomiting and diarrhea. Many of these possible causes are serious. I'd recommend that you take him to your veterinarian immediately.

A couple article that might be helpful to you isVomiting in Dogs, Chronic Diarrhea in Dogs and Gastroenteritis in Dogs.

Best of luck!
