Hi – thanks for your email and question. You wrote – what is in Coyote bait that kills them? The active ingredient in most coyote bait – is strychnine.

Generally strychnine causes seizures and death within minutes to hours after ingestion. Dogs can also ingest it causing toxicity or death.
