Tips on Selecting an Aquarium Stand

A strong aquarium stand for your tank is important. Water weighs nearly 8 pounds per gallon, so the average aquarium can weigh hundreds of pounds and must be stable and well-supported. Make sure you take this into consideration when you purchase your stand. Tell the sales clerk exactly how heavy the tank will be.

Take stock of the floor that the tank and stand will be placed on. Can it support that kind of weight? You may want to consider putting the tank on ground level. If a large tank were ever to spring a leak or get knocked over, you could have serious water damage throughout all the floors below.
