The pretty mangrove monitor, Varanus indicus ssp., is found in Africa, southern Asia and northern Australia. Adults may reach five feet long. Mangrove monitors are alert, active lizards that are arboreal as young and are aquatic and terrestrial as adults. Plan to expand your cage and modify it as your monitor grows. Adults will need a cage at least 4x6x8 feet and should have plenty of climbing surfaces and a bathing pond.
