We received our German shepherd from the Humane Society of Rhode Island. Our dog is an ex-police K9, who apparently wasn't "aggressive" enough to make the cut. He does not like any form of loud speaking, he gets nervous and he doesn't allow any slapping or physical aggressiveness. He is very loyal to the family but does have his favorites, of whom he will protect and keep others separated in mock tests. He whines when 2 people are close together or hugging and tries to separate them by getting between them. Cujo is 120 lbs, not fat but very large and muscular. We often call him "Chris Farley" whereas he can jump, and runs around the house and yard like a 2-month-old puppy, doing flips, etc. His favorite toy is a bright pink porcupine squeezy toy that squeaks endlessly as he chews on it. (Very masculine toy, this pink porcupine). He will go nowhere without his pink porcupine. He enjoys riding in the car, my son has a Chevy Blazer and he sits up front with his feet on the dash. He has attempted to ride in my Camaro, but he doesn't fit very well and continuously rolls into my drivers seat from the back, pushing me forward. We recently moved from Massachusetts to Florida, and went from a large yard with a pond to a smaller yard with a pool. He loves to sneak in the pool and swim around and around until you can get him out. He is well behaved and is very intelligent. You can send him in other rooms to get things for you and he always comes back with what you asked for. He is a big child, yet very protective and loyal. He detains people who are aggressive by a low quiet growl as he stands with his nose pelvic level, to keep an aggressive person at bay. He has never bitten anyone; whereas he has not ever found it necessary due to his training he can stop a problem before it becomes a problem. Many people have come up and offered large sums of money to purchase Cujo, of which we say we would never sell our children, of which he is the "baby". He is a happy, now relaxed large baby who is very affectionate and intelligent.Sally Tatarian, Hollywood, FL
