German Shepherd Dog - Taz loved his frisbee!

German Shepherd Dog - Taz loved his frisbee!

My wife and I were married and soon after we bought our first house, we were discussing a new member of our household. On a Saturday morning at the breakfast table, she asked if I wanted the pet section of the local newspaper. She knew I was excited about getting a puppy, and there in an ad was our little bundle of joy.

We got him home and on the way decided to name him Taz. He was a little fluff ball for the first few weeks, but then started growing into those skinny legs he got from his mother. At first, he liked to chew on stuff, and then it turned to biting. We decided it was time for obedience classes, and six weeks later, he was cured from his bad habits.

That was about the time he was introduced to the Frisbee. At first, we gave him nylabone Frisbees but after a couple weeks he would rip them or destroy them in one-way or another. Finally, after a few years, and a few worn out teeth we got him a soft bite, floppy disc.

Everybody in the neighborhood knew Taz, and on occasion, kids would stop by and throw his frisbee for him. He was quite special, and gave my wife Holly, daughter Janice, and myself some of the most memorable years of our lives.

We lost Taz after 11 years, 4 months, and 4 days to cancer last Memorial Day weekend. Now he watches me sleep, with his Frisbee, awaiting his next catch!
