Golden Retriever - Mini Cooper, didn’t get the car but got something better instead!

My story starts a little sad; we lost our golden girl Duchess at 10 yrs young, too soon due to cancer. A year later we lost our little boy golden Jake at 12 yrs young again due to cancer. Our hearts were completely broken and I said no more dogs as I couldn’t stand to loose something so precious again!

After 3 months of having an empty house to return to with no wagging tails or smiles to greet us, I finally conceded to get a puppy, we started looking but wanted another golden and since we felt our 2 were so special we didn’t want a golden that was just bred for profit but came from a family who loved they’re goldens.consequently a relative called us to say a litter of goldens had been delivered on May 23rd and would be ready in July, ironically our latest golden that we lost died on May 29th.so we took this as an omen and went to see the puppies, when we pulled into the yard the father of the puppies came out to greet us with his stuffed animal in his mouth (Jake used to do this always) so we considered this another good omen and felt that Jake in the "other world" had sent this puppy to us to help with our grieving process.

Cooper picked us from the other 8 in the litter. We took him home 3 and a half years ago and haven’t looked back since, his dog walker says there is no other golden like him in temperament or loving. He adores the cat and the cat adores him (I think the cat thinks she's a dog). He could never replace Jake but he sure is our baby boy!!!

He loves riding in the car and playing with his friends at daycare. Even has a girlfriend (another golden) named Lila, she waits in the hallway for him at daycare and won’t go outside until he gets there!!

Anyway that’s the story of cooper, oh by the way how cooper got his name was one day I wanted to buy a mini cooper so.... didn’t get the car but got something better instead! In fact my in-laws were so impressed with how smart and funny cooper is that they went out and bought a golden puppy of their own named him buddy!
