My best friend was Our 9 yr old son, who passed away a year ago last August. It has been a very hard time for all in our family, including our pets. We have a older female mix and a beautiful Hymalian blue point. As time passed both the anaimals and our family has learned to go on with life but not really live it.
Well all this changed 2 weeks ago when we were lucky enough to have a friend who had a new litter of goldens. We went to their house just to see the puppies, and had no intentions of bringing one home. After spending several hours with the puppies we decide to take a male home for the evening and see how the other pets accepted the puppy.
Within hours he was a part of our family. He wakes up and is happy , goes to sleep happy. we named him Tucker which is perfect for him. Because at the end of the day we are all tuckered out. In the two short weeks we have had him he follows me everywhere. We go for walks, play in the yard, swim in our pool and enjoy the world around us.
I never knew a dog could help so much, I was so wrong. He will not replace our son, but he reminds us every day that we live in a great country , have great friends and life is too short not to enjoy it.
So my advise to all pet owners is enjoy your animals, they bring so much love and affection to our lives, and ask so little.
My goal is to train him to become a therapy dog, so that he can go to schools and hospitals, and help other people heal, the way he has helped us heal.
