My husband and I love our kitties.Over the years of our children growing up, we had eight living with us, together with our three dogs.
My daughter had rescued a Maine Coon that was starving. We found that she was pregnant, so we cared for her as best we could and she rewarded us with seven kittens. We loved them all, but could only keep three for our own. We found the others good homes.
As the kittens grew and matured, a surprising thing happened. At night, in the quiet, we would hear a singing start. It would travel throughout the house. We didn't recognize what it was at first, but sounded familar.
Then, we realized that the melodic sound was our young male, Mickey, singing to us. He was walking throughout the house checking on the children, the dogs, and us, while singing a soft lullaby. This happened night after night for years. During the day, he was quiet and retiring.
Now, his sister, Goofy, sings to us in the evening after everyone has gone to bed. She also greets the day with a different, louder song.
They are older now so the songs are not melodic. They sound more gutteral. Our guests do not find them as wonderful as we do, but to us they are the most beautiful sounds in our world.
