Manx - My Peaches was a Angel

Manx - My Peaches was a Angel

By: Beth Rumbaugh - Reisterstown, Maryland

My Peaches came to live with me about 16 years ago, after her brother Schreech, saw her from his perch inside the apartment. She caught his eye, and they communicated to the point she would make her way up the wood beams in the car port, over the awning, up to the window, so she could get closer, eventually, she would win me over and being fed through the screen, soon was being let inside, and eventually as the weather got colder she stayed inside.

She would soon learn to find her place around, and she became a very affectionate, and lovable special kitty, she would sleep for hours on my chest, as I would fall asleep in the chair, she preferred sleeping there, sometimes at night, she slept on top of my husbands chest. But no matter where ever she was, if there were no other sounds in the room, you could be assure of one her steady purring would be their to let you know, "All is Well"!

Both her and Schreech enjoyed years together of sleeping with me in the afternoon, and I was never sure who purred the loudest, but it was always a comfort to know they were with me, as I lived a lone, and suffered a stroke 13 years ago, and so every day was special to us as we learned to watch over each other and take care of one another.

This past year my Peaches began failing in her health and I knew her time with me would soon be gone, so I long to spend more time with her, but didn't find those same cherished times, as I hated to let her go. One day, last month that day came. We said good-bye to our loving little Peaches, who gave us so much love, the sounds of comfort, the tenderness of that unconditional spirit she shared. I have missed her as my heart aches with her absence although, I knew it would come the grief is still real I only wish I could hear and feel her purring furr next to me as I close my eyes each night. I will cherish the memories that I have of her for the past 16 years.
