Yorkshire Terrier - Corky the Dorkie Yorkie

Yorkshire Terrier - Corky the Dorkie Yorkie

Corkie is a lovable, good natured, playful Yorkie. He just loves to bring his toys for me to play with him. When he was a younger he would bark until I would play. Not liking to hear the loud barking I would say no Corkie, like this, and bark back real softly. He would sit there a minute and then bark back softly too. This just cracked my daughter up.
I also have taught him to bring me several toys. Then he will drop one when I tell him to. The only problem is that he is guarding it with his life. So then I taught him to back up when I tell him. I was showing my husband one night and he wanted to know how much time spend playing with him during the day. I don't, he is just a quick learner.

He also grabs socks and washcloths when I am getting clothes out of the dryer. This is a game and he will only bring them back and give them to me for a treat. One morning I was getting ready for work and didn't have time to chase him. I was washing my face and he came to the bathroom door watching. I held up the cloth and told him to bring me his cloth. Sure enough here he came with the washcloth in his mouth.
He has a couple of bad habits. One is taking himself for a walk (run) if he can get out the door when no one is looking. This scares me because I am afraid he might get lost or in the street. I never let him out with out a leash or on a cable, but occasionally, especially when we have company he will let himself out.

The other bad habit is an occasional potty accident in the house. If this happens all I have to do is call him. He knows it is wrong and he makes a beeline for his crate. It is hard to stay mad at him, because he is so sweet.

My last dog, a Yorkie mix died when he was 16. I said I didn't want any more dogs. But my four children thought otherwise. They gave me the puppy for Mother's Day. I am glad they did. He has given me many laughs and is truly a good, bright, loving, entertaining companion.
