I am the proud owner of 2 beautiful puppies! My husband was killed in an accident in 2004 and my then 5-year-old daughter and myself had a huge void. A year later we attempted to adopt a puppy from our local animal shelter. She proved to be too aggressive and we had to find her a new home.
On a visit to a pet shop for cat food, my daughter found an adorable Yorkie and instantly fell in love. I, of course, said "No", so she proceeded in calling my sister and a friend to persuade them into getting him. A week later, our friend was with us when we stopped by and she, too, fell in love with this puppy and sided with my daughter. I brought "Lauren's Grand Barkley" (Barkley for short) home and our lives took an instant turnaround. He was already crate trained, but now sleeps cuddled up to one of us. He knows tricks like sit, down, give me 5, give me 10, speak, bang- bang, etc.
He loves everyone he sees and is an absolute doll. This spring I was in the same store and noticed a small malnourished puppy in the window. The store had gotten him in the night before. He was not registered, but they think he was Yorkie also. Something made me ask to hold him. When I felt his ribs and how tiny he was, I couldn't put him down. So enters my other little boy, Blue. He is now 5 months old, and we think is a Snorkie... Snauzer and Yorkie mixed.
He already weighs 6 lbs. (The same as Barkley) and they are 2 adorable balls of energy! Blue runs and jumps on my daughter's head when I call for her to get up in the mornings. He also sleeps cuddled up to one of us. He and Barkley act like they have always been together. When they want to play, just watch out! Barkley is very proper and petite. Blue is bumbling and shy. I wouldn't trade them for anything, and they definitely help to fill a part of our void.
Unconditional love... isn't it something!
