Fishhook Tip

Removing fish hooks stuck in the skin can be tricky. Due to the barb, you shouldn't back the hook out of the skin. To remove the hook, drive the hook through the skin until the tip and barb are exposed. At this point, the barb can be snipped off with wire cutting pliers and the hook removed. If you pet swallows a hook, do not pull the fishing line. This will result in setting the hook somewhere in the gastrointestinal tract. Contact your veterinarian immediately.
