How do I use Perfect Litter™ Alert?

Perfect Litter™ Alert is used the same way all other clumping & scoopable cat litters are used. The only difference is that it can be flushed since it is 100% biodegradable. Simply get a supply and start using it.

What is the best way to get started with Perfect Litter™ Alert?

The best way to get started is to evaluate your entire litter situation. Make sure you have enough litter boxes for the size of your house and the number of cats that you have. The general rule of thumb is that you should have one litter box per cat plus one OR one litter box per floor or level of your house, whichever is more. Too few litter boxes is a common reason for cats to inappropriately eliminate. This is especially true in large homes with multiple levels, or in multi-cat households.

When you first decide to change litter, your cat will need some time to adjust. Acute changes in litter boxes or litter content can upset some cats. So, for the first few days or so, always ensure your cat has the opportunity to use the litter they are already used to. The key is changing gradually so that they are just as happy as you are about the great new litter.

There are three ways to accomplish this:

Option 1: Fill one litter box with the new Perfect Litter™ Alert and place it beside another litter box filled with your old litter. You can spray or sprinkle cat nip in the Perfect Litter™ Alert so that it is more enticing. Once your cat begins to use the Perfect Litter™ Alert, you can remove the second box containing your old litter.

Option 2: Remove the old contents from your litter box. Begin by gradually mixing in the new litter with the old and monitor litter box use. First you may want to keep 90% previous litter, 10% new litter mix. If this is met with satisfaction after a few days, gradually increase the new litter mix over several days until you are using 100% new litter.

Option 3: Remove the old contents from your litter box. Put a layer of Perfect Litter™ Alert under your current litter to acclimate your cat. As you clean the box, add more Perfect Litter™ Alert until the tray contains nearly all Perfect Litter™ Alert.

During this transition please be aware that mixing Perfect Litter™ Alert with other litters can cause false readings and cause the litter to turn pink.

Is it safe to use on kittens?

Yes, Perfect Litter™ Alert is safe for cats of all ages.

How do I begin using Perfect Litter™ Alert for a new kitten?

First, you need to consider what “depth” of cat litter your kitten likes. After you fill the litter box, tilt the box so the litter is deeper on one end and less deep on the other. When you go to scoop the litter, take notice of what end your kitten likes. This will help guide you on how full to fill the box in the future.

You may also encourage your kitten to use the litter box by spraying or sprinkling catnip on top of the litter.

Is Perfect Litter™ Alert Safe for the environment?

Yes, Perfect Litter™ Alert is made from an organic mineral that is 100% earth friendly, biodegradable, and flushable. It does not contain sodium bentonite, which is found in clay litters, which contributes to 15 million pounds of non-biodegradable waste each year to our landfills. You can help the environment by using Perfect Litter™ Alert.

Is it really safe to flush?

Yes. Don’t flush the entire contents of the box down at once – flush the clumps as your cat produces them. Flushing is easy. Simply scoop the litter, place it in your toilet, and flush. Never flush the contents of the entire litter box down the toilet at one time.
Perfect Litter™ Alert is safe for all sewer systems and dissolves without any impact to your plumbing.

Please note: California Residents: Flushing cat feces and litter in toilets or drains is not permitted in the state.

What does the Perfect Litter™ Alert color change mean?

Another difference in using Perfect Litter™ Alert is that you should always look for any signs of the litter turning a shade of pink. This special feature will tell you if your cat has any signs of urinary problems. If you see any changes in color, you should contact your veterinarian immediately for an appointment. Perfect Litter™ Alert is not a diagnostic tool, but a pH balance test that can be used to alert you if there are any changes to your cat’s urine pH.

Can it help detect urinary infections?

Yes, the Perfect Litter™ Alert contains sensors in the litter that turn pink with the pH is abnormal. An abnormal pH is often associated with urinary tract infections. So this litter can help detect urinary problems. Simply use the litter – if you notice an abnormal pink color – call your veterinarian to have your cat evaluated for a possible infection or problem.

What is the guarantee?

There is 30-day money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, simply send the cat litter back to Pet Ecology with your explanation for the return for a full refund.
