Tip on Feeding Multiple Diets in a Multiple Cat Household

Here is a tip from one of our PetPlace.com users:

This works – I've done it for years…

The answer to different diets in a multi-cat household isn't some gadget; it's plain simple training. My cats are fed twice a day, each with their own bowl, each with the amount and kind of food they need. I have a kitty that's on CD, a kitty on Cosequin and a kitty that tends to be overweight so he gets smaller portions than the others. Each kitty gets it's own bowl, and at 6:30am and at 5:30pm they get fed. Every kitty is given the opportunity to eat until they are finished, and if someone isn't eating I know it immediately.

After I started this on my own I discovered that many vets actually recommend this system too. I was at a Cat Care conference sponsored by the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the vets from Colorado State University's Vet Hospital highly recommended this too. There's no guessing if someone is off his or her food and of course that's a first warning if a cat is ill.
