Frontline Cat Flea Control – Vet’s Advice On Frontline Cat Flea Control

What is Frontline cat flea control medication?

Frontline cat flea control is a type of medication manufactured by Merial. Frontline® and Frontline Plus® are popular cat flea control products that are available from your veterinarian. Frontline® contains a medication that kills adult fleas within 24 hours and also kills juvenile fleas and eggs. Frontline also kills all stages of the 4 major species of ticks.

If you want more details about how it works – the active ingredient is fipronil which works by interfering with the brain and spinal cord of insects, resulting in the insects death. It is applied as a topical solution that collects in the oils of the skin and in the hair follicles. Frontline® cat flea control is not absorbed into the body and does not circulate through the blood stream. Utilizing the process of translocation, Frontline® spreads over the body in about 24 hours. Frontline® is used once a month and applied topically. Frontline® cat flea control remains effective after bathing or swimming though it is recommended that shampooing be avoided within 48 hours of application. It is effective for about 30 days.

Frontline cat flea control is commonly recommended and I use it often.
