What can we do about one of our cats is picking on two other cats?

Our question this week was:

Hi, We are having a problem with one of our cats picking on 2 of the others. What would you recommend we do about it? We’ve considered a muzzle but not sure that is the path we should be on. Any help you could give us would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi – thanks for your email. You wrote that you have one cat this is picking on two other cats. Inter-cat aggression can be common in multi-cat homes. I’d recommend that you read this article – Aggression in Cats. I’d also recommend that you have plenty of toys, litter boxes, good litter box care, perches for the cats to look out of, plenty of beds and dedicate about 10 minutes of play time pet cat per day.

You can use some pheromone sprays to help give your home a feeling of “calmness” which can help in some households.

The article I mentioned above has some good tips by a behaviorist that you may want to try.

Best of luck!
