Our question this week was:

Dr. Debra – my cat just started blinking a lot with his right eye – and it is tearing some. Is there something I can put in it?

Answer

Hi – thanks for your email. You wrote that your cat is excessively blinking and tearing from his right eye.

There are several reasons for this to occur – including that he got something in it – the cornea is scratched, glaucoma, infections, etc. Blinking is a sign of pain or irritation. You may not have noticed but if you see blinking and tearing – the eye may also be red.

I’d recommend that you take him to your vet so he can properly evaluate the eye. There is nothing I’d recommend placing in the eye at this time.

Best of luck!
