2009 Pet Horoscopes

What Does This New Year Hold For Your Pet?

By the Brittanys, Kerouac & Cal Orey (with Special Guest Astrologer Dana Haynes who shares the news on Planets and Pets)

Welcome to 2009, a year that promises both humans and companion animals will spend more time at home enjoying the simple life-and all the good things Mother Nature brings. Staying close to friends, pet pals, and family will also be the trend in the New Year.

The six eclipses (two solar and four lunar) will influence each of the 12 Sun signs of all critters, big and small-mind, body, and spirit. The ups and downs of this year’s international economic shake-up, both global cooling and warming, and political changes around the world, continue to strengthen the animal-human bond.

This year, pets will discover their role will be to offer comfort and calming more than usual. In 2009, extreme weather will play a bigger part in some pets’ lives throughout the four seasons. And yes, this year may mean a less material world for four-leggers and two-leggers-but that doesn’t mean cats, dogs, birds, fish, small and big domestic animals will go without exercise, needed vet visits, and love.

So, animal friends, domestic and wild, welcome the New Year’s ups and downs and calm times. Simply put, challenging times will pass on the upside, this year’s uncertainty will enhance your human-animal connection. And note, your amazing unconditional love is more important than ever now as humans cope with a planet in transition. Stay cool.

ARIES (MAR. 21 – APR. 20)

SYMBOL: The Ram

Give kudos to a few of this New Year’s eclipses for your new, improved life no matter if you’re a cat or dog or other critter. That’s right, Ari, you’re going to be busy the way you like it. On the go is the name of the game for you with past and present pet pals to your fave humans. And something super big may be in the works, too. Think a new home or a pet-friendly R&R spot to romp or lounge day and night? Well, time will tell but lose the impatience thing. It’s all good.

SEASONS AND YOUR SUN SIGN

Winter: This is the season to turn up the feel-good feelings with you know who. It could be human or pet but the ties will be stronger than ever. Maybe the eclipse or moon plays a role in V-Day month or not, no matter. Your calendar is full and as the action-oriented fire sign that you are, you’re going to be happy camper despite ups and downs around the globe.

Spring: April and May spell novelty. After all, it is spring the season of renewal. And for you, my Arien pets, that means you’re going to see new places, see new things, and experience life. Yep, 2009 is living it up and it’s starting now so enjoy. Remember, you don’t always have to be first. Your turn is here.

Summer: It may seem like your life in the fast lane will come to a screeching halt in July but that Total Solar Eclipse and New Moon will most likely smooth out the rough edges that are linked to your humans. No worries. Again, this is a very good year for energetic Rams, and a good summer for you.

Fall: Caution: early fall may spell trouble…but hey, you’ve had it easy this year. Chill out because when the October Full Moon rolls around you’ll be back on track. Yes, that means your “Me First” attitude will be overlooked and accepted and all your desires will come to fruition for the rest of 2009.

PLANETS AND PETS:

Thanks to Saturn in Virgo and Uranus in Pisces opposition in your chart you probably had to pace yourself and eat less the last few months of 2008. Despite tension and everyday concerns for your caretakers in a weak economy enjoy the pampering and friendly faces till mid-February 2009 and then you will be back to snuff and running the household for all of the New Year.

TAURUS (APR. 21 – MAY 21)

SYMBOL: The Bull

In 2009, you not unlike Aries will be faced with some new things but you can deal since you’re a centered Earth sign. While Rams are impulsive, Bull creatures are more steadfast but stubborn and may resist turbulent times. And this year is a time for new experiences. Blame upsets on the Full Moon and/or Lunar Eclipse in February but it will work itself out, especially if you stay calm like you are known to do. Do not, we repeat don’t let your fur or feathers get ruffled. It’s only wintertime and you have a whole year ahead of you!

SEASONS AND YOUR SUN SIGN

Winter: Okay, here’s the real deal. This isn’t going to be your best season; March, like February, may rain on your wanted parade. But it’s only three months. Your mantra should be: “Spring is on its way.” And yes, it will come with sunshine, flowers, a fresh new outlook for you and your humans no matter what life tosses your way during the wintertime.

Spring: April and May show promise. Yes, times are less crazy for you Taurean critters who prefer calm and luxury but life isn’t always a basket full of treats. The good news is, you’re starting to see glimpse of the good stuff coming into your life. Hang in there and use your Taurus perseverance.

Summer: We told you so. By August, maybe due to the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse, life gets cozier for you. Read: more time and pampering for you luxury-loving cats, dogs, and other companion animals. See, your stubborn streak can work wonders when you put your pet head to it. And yes, the rest of this volatile year will be smooth sailing complete with some surprises for Bulls. So, forget the temper tantrums. You got through the worst of it.

Fall: Whoops. While fall is fine, late autumn through early winter unfortunately may bring a few snags. That silly Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse on New Year’s Eve won’t help. But hey, find your favorite hang out spot, tune out the chaos, and any upsets will be over soon with promise of a more calm 2010. You are not flighty, so stay put…life can only get better for you oh pragmatic one.

PLANETS AND PETS:

Lately your calm couch potato approach to life has been tested by your frazzled humans and friends who drop by. Uranus in Pisces keeps everyone hopping throughout the first six months of 2009, so stay cool. Hopefully, your soothing personality will rub off on others and bring lots of treats which you love for the remainder of the year.

GEMINI (MAY 22 – JUNE 21)

SYMBOL: The Twins

Say goodbye to your life as you once knew it. Change, change, change is in the air for you Gemini creatures, big and small. But hey, you like adventure and you’re going to get it in 2009. During your travels and/or relocating, you can blame the topsy-turvy world on the six eclipses or Full and New Moons that seem to wreak havoc on your nerves. Still, there will be some days that will be unforgettable no matter how strange they may seem to be. It may be more hectic than for Aries or Taurus, admit it-you thrive of change.

SEASONS AND YOUR SUN SIGN

Winter: Your humans may be talking the talk about moving, yep, picking up and going anywhere but where you’re at. It may seem like everything is up in the air. Just tune it out and go with the flow. Go ahead-give your humans nurturing. They will repay you later.
It’s called karma, oh Gemini animals.

Spring: During April and May the Full Moons may bring you more excitement than a pet could ever imagine. You earned the good stuff for being a good pet during the bad times. Show your appreciation and even more good times will roll this season and next.

Summer: This year, enjoy your human’s choice of vacation spots. There is a place for you and if they don’t find it, be resourceful and look within. You’ll find a spot to feed your mind and body-or seek out an in tune human friend who will tune into your innermost needs.

Fall: Two Full Moons and Lunar Eclipse during a holiday month may bring you good times with pets and humans. Savor the festivities and pets will be part of all of it. You deserve it this year. Good job.

PLANETS AND PETS:

Even during tough times you thrive on tension but make sure your toys, food and bed are nearby since the Saturn/Uranus opposition creates a T-square in your chart telling the astrologer your owners will continue bouncing like a ball due to sudden changes in the first four months of 2009. This could lead to a possible house move before the year is over. But this year will be an exciting, fun-filled one with many new playmates. Thank goodness you are a Gemini and adjust easily.

CANCER (JUNE 22 – JULY 23)

SYMBOL: The Crab

Welcome to 2009 sensitive Crabs. This is your year, unlike Gemini who must move with changes; this is your time to take care of you. This could mean you may be the sole pet or perhaps move up in ranking and be the alpha dog or cat. Whatever takes place this rocky year you can bet it will be for your best interest. And hey, speak up if your humans don’t get it-that this year is about you.

SEASONS AND YOUR SUN SIGN

Winter: When February hits your humans may have to pay for an extra treat or vet bill for you. Don’t feel guilty. It’s not your fault, you’re only animal. Be a good pet and accept the extra treatment with a wag of a tail, purr, or show some sign of appreciation.

Spring: The New Moons may play games with your tender emotions. Try and let it go, whatever it is-a new pet, a new person. In fact, you may even want to do the Crab retreat to show your feelings and then everything will get back to normal and on even keel.

Summer: Due to the two Eclipses in July and Full Moon you may notice something is changing and it will affect you. Maybe your fave pet is gone or your fave human but you will get through this rough patch and do it with flying colors-life a Crab with super self-preservation skills.

Fall: You have endured 2009 and in December you may embrace pet pals more than ever before…Of course, a few power struggles may come into play but you’ll survive. And remember, 2010 is going to roll in with stronger relationship ties-and that’s what Crabs are made of, right?

PLANETS AND PETS:

Your sensitive nature picks up on everything going on around you and you really don’t want to play “Pitiful Pearl” to get attention, but your people have been stressed most of 2008 and you probably want to hide in a cupboard till May 2009 when Mars helps release the pressure they are feeling. Leave a food trail in case they want your loving. The last seven months of 2009 will be filled with new people, ideas and change for your companions leading into a great New Year.

LEO (JULY 24 – AUG. 23)

SYMBOL: The Lion

In 2009, Lion pets like Crab critters will be in the limelight, one way or another. Thanks to some of the Eclipses you will be noticed for something-tricks, amazing antics, or heroic efforts. Pay attention, you don’t want to miss your 15 minutes plus of fame, Leo-an energetic fire sign. And remember, people and pets are counting on you to make a difference and light up their lives by your actions. Yes, you can cope with the added pressure.

SEASONS AND YOUR SUN SIGN:

Winter: This season you get what you want whether you flaunt your charm or not. So, whatever it is that you’ve been craving it’s time to collect what’s yours. And it’s time for the season to have your wish(s) is going to come true.

Spring: Before the summer comes in at you it’s time to get in tip top health shape. That means, your diet and exercise routine, thanks to your humans, may undergo some changes for the best. Go with it-it’s for your health’s sake and well-being.

Summer: This is a season when new things may be in front of you ready for you to pounce on it and take what’s yours. It could be due to the Solar Eclipse or New Moon but whatever is making things come your way, go for it Lion. You deserve it.

Fall: Home is where you’ll be during the hectic holidays but they may not be hectic for Lion pets. People and fellow pets will surround you, exactly what Leos love. So rejoice and let the New Year finish of a good note.

PLANETS AND PETS:

You are fun, loving and playful but tensions at home have not made life easy for anyone thanks to Saturn slowly moving through the heavens in 2008. Everyone needs your companionships and snuggles and Neptune in Aquarius lets you trust your senses and help those you rely on. When Jupiter aligns with your sun sign in the month of March 2009 try some new tricks, bat the eyelashes and show your humans love is what makes their day special and the year will be great for all of you.

VIRGO (AUG. 24 – SEPT. 23)

SYMBOL: The Virgin

Like the Lion, 2009 is all about you, Virgo. But the next 12 months are about keeping your body and spirit in sync. And it’s the year that you get it together solo with the assistance of your devoted guardians. Yes, you critters can behave like you’re cool and calm but deep inside your nerves can be frazzled. You’ve got to learn how to cope better without letting life’s stressors get to you from head to paw, claw or fin.

SEASONS AND YOUR SUN SIGN:

Winter: That big, bright Full Moon in January or February may be just what your vet ordered to keep you healthy and happy during any changes in your body. You may get a job if you’re a dog, cat or bird and that means no more boring days and nights. Or, you may hook up with a pet pal that will keep you on your paws or claws. Stay aware because the change is most likely a positive one.

Spring: Pre-springtime is a time for you to get closer to a pet or person. This may be a turning point for 2009 so look for cues. When you get a sign-don’t be reserved like you can be. Let go and reap the rewards of a good for you relationship.

Summer: A New Moon this summer-not sure which month it will be-will bring you welcome surprises. Keep your intuitive instincts in working order and you will discover something new and it will make your summertime go by fast and be unforgettable.

Fall: Ah, the New Moon at the year’s end is going to give you even more novelty. Yes, changes on the home front or workplace-if you have a job with your humans-may be in the works. Even your own space could be expanded or improved. Enjoy the change.

PLANETS AND PETS:

Thank heavens you are the relaxed personality at home because everyone else has been climbing the walls, tearing their hair out and upset with everything during 2008. Somehow you know the tensions will ease gradually during the first six months of 2009. You may look like you’re not interested but you have the sixth sense like all Virgos so you know this New Year will prove to be a good one for you and your humans, right?
