Knitting Dog Clothes – Vet’s Advice On Knitting Dog Clothes

Do you have any information on knitting clothes for dogs?

There are numerous books and patterns on knitting dog clothes. You can find books and patterns to knit blankets, pillows, jackets, sweaters, etc. for dogs on the internet, at yarn shops and in knitting magazines. If you are an accomplished knitter, you can make your own pattern for knitting dog clothes. Choose yarn that is soft and easy to wash with no special care instructions. You may consider yarn colors that hides the presence of loose hairs and complements your pets coloring. Bright patterns are often a favorite and can provide safety by allowing him or her to be easily seen when your dog is outside. A wonderful book on knitting dog clothes with great pictures came out a year or so ago and one of my clients loves it. The title of the book is: Dogs In Knits by Judith L. Swartz and another good one is Knitting for Dogs: Irresistible Patterns for Your Favourite Pup, and You! by Kristi Porter. Both of these can be ordered from your local book store or found online.

PS – for those of you who REALLY love to knit – this book is fascinating. Its not about knitting dog clothes exactly but knitting with dog hair! Knitting With Dog Hair : Better A Sweater From A Dog You Know and Love Than From A Sheep You’ll Never Meet by Kendall Crolius.
